What are the different colour fire extinguishers for?

8 Track Mind VT asked:
I know the red ones are for a red fire, and the yellow ones are for a yellow fire, but these blue ones, and those black ones, what are they for? Also, I have decorated in mauve and peach, do you think that will make a difference in what kind of fires I have? Where can I get a mauve fire extinguisher, I am so tired, there, I said it tired of having these contraptions clashing with the Decor.

How do I start a fire in my fireplace and keep the wind from blowing the smoke into the house?

Jim asked:
When I start a fire with the flu open, for the first few minutes cold air comes down through the chimney and pushes the smoke out into the room. After a few minutes, the fire is hot enough to push back and force the smoke up and out. How do I stop the room from filling with smoke?

What is the best way to start a fire for a copper fire pit?

beachcchs asked:
I have just purchased a copper fire pit on a wrought iron stand. I am wanting to not only use it for a camp fire but to roast hot dogs and marshmallows on. I know the fire logs that can purchased are convenient but can’t be cooked with because of how they are treated. I am a single mom new to this fire starting thing. Can someone please tell me how to get a good fire started in a fire pit and keep the flame going?

Where do you place fire extinguishers in your home?

Hooray for Everything asked:
I’ve got one in the kitchen, but realized that the floor plan of my apartment could trap me in the bedroom if I’m there while a fire starts in the kitchen. I suppose you could put one in every room of the house, but that’s expensive, takes up space, and is generally unattractive. Maybe just place one nearest where fires are likely to occur (kitchen) and another where you sleep?

My friend and I are throwing a party at the beach and we are having smores at a nearby fire ring. I’ve never started a fire before. So what materials do I need and how do I do it, and where can I purchase the materials? People have been telling me to use “fire starter” logs. Please give me info. THE PARTY IS THIS WEDNESDAY!! (the 20th)

I just bought a new house in Texas, and unfortunately it came with fire ants in the yard. What is the best way to get rid of these - preferably without chemicals as I do have pets.
